With direct access from Central Park West, our expanded lobby and its vaulted ceilings make for a grand entrance to the Museum. The Robert H. and Clarice Smith Gallery strikes a perfect balance between history and modernity. Its six original columns feature digital monitors which can be customized to make the gallery your own. Interactive touch screens and highlights from the Museum’s rich collection illuminate seminal themes in American history with a special emphasis on New York.

The sleek, modern auditorium, with its curved architectural design, retains the charm of an intimate theater experience while offering state-of-the-art theatrical equipment. It’s a perfect venue for film screenings, upfronts, concerts, TED-style talks, and panel discussions. Our in-house AV team provides extensive complimentary support, including lighting, sound, and video projection. Additional services, if necessary, are sourced through our approved vendors.

Dexter Hall is the largest of our galleries. Whether attending a dinner party, sipping cocktails and socializing, or listening to a talk, guests enjoy private access to our groundbreaking shows. When rented in conjunction with the Patricia D. Klingenstein Library, the second floor can accommodate receptions for up to 600 guests. Dexter Hall houses artwork from our permanent collection, including the towering painted stage curtain, Le Tricorne, the largest Picasso on display in North America.

Neoclassical architecture and soaring 50-foot ceilings make the Patricia D. Klingenstein Library a stunning setting for your special occasion. Magnificent stained glass windows, gifted to the New-York Historical in 1908, create a dramatic backdrop for luncheons, receptions, dinners, performances, and presentations. In combination with Dexter Hall, it can accommodate up to 600 guests.
GALLERY OF TIFFANY LAMPS
Capacity 300 Reception
The stunning Gallery of Tiffany Lamps is an immersive display of 100 glimmering glass lamps, all part of the exceptional collection of the New-York Historical Society and many of which were designed by Clara Driscoll and the “Tiffany Girls” in the early 20th Century. Guests can explore two levels of beautifully lit lamps, connected by a glowing staircase. In combination with the other galleries spaces on the fourth floor, it can hold up to 600 guests for a reception.
ROBERT H. SMITH FAMILY SKYLIGHT GALLERY

The Skylight Gallery is an intimate space flooded with natural light, making it a perfect backdrop for an elegant seated dinner, a stimulating panel discussion, or a gathering of close friends, family, or business colleagues. Skylight is often coupled with the East Gallery for larger events.

The captivating North Gallery showcases historic treasures from our permanent collection in a fresh, inventive way, through both interactive media and 15 glass cases displaying fascinating artifacts. Mesmerize your guests with this unique setting that reflects the dynamic history of America.

A striking, inspiring space, the East Gallery features Women’s Voices, a large-format multimedia installation from the Center for Women’s History that explores the compelling stories of women who have shaped the American experience. Also on view: the Roy J. Zuckerberg Silver Gallery, which showcases glittering silver from famed New York retailer Tiffany & Co.

Tucked inside the landmark building, New-York Historical Society, discover Storico. A seasonally inspired eatery committed in equal measure of inventive ingredient-driven menus, traditional cooking techniques, and fresh regionally sourced produce.
